The book marks the 125th anniversary of the Mont. It includes information on every final since 1897 as well as stories of the characters, teams and people who have featured in its long and proud history.

All profits will go to the Mexborough Montagu Hospital Comforts Fund.

 

Totty Cup book

The same authors are detailing 100 years of school football in the same area as the Montagu Cup.
Prompted by the Centenary of the Totty Cup, this will in a similar format to 'The Mont'. 
As well as the primary school competition, it will also branch into successful senior school teams, such as when  Mexborough Grammar won the English Schools in 1972.

The Montagu Cup was first competed for in the 1896-97 season with the final taking place in Mexborough.

To this day, the Montagu Cup final, is still held in Mexborough.  Traditionally this match is played on Easter Monday at 11am, at the Hampden Road ground.
It is thought to be the oldest football competition still played at the same ground.
