Pre-orders

This list of people pre-ordered the  book before 30th September 2022.
Everyone was asked to check these during October.  These are now nailed down and cannot be changed.

Please check that we have your chosen name (and maybe club) correct in the list of people who have pre-ordered.  After October XX it will be too late to change this.

See link: https://tinyurl.com/montbook

This is how it will appear in the printed book – your chosen name amongst all the others who pre-ordered.

Please ignore the other names, as you may spoil someone's Christmas surprise by saying - "I see you've ordered a Mont book" - when it was ordered by a relative!

We are having a launch night for the book on Thursday 15th December at the Mexborough Athletic Club at 7.30pm.  Location New Oxford Road, Mexborough S64 0JL

We are hoping that Dennis Priestley and Tommy Joyce will be present.  There will be brief speeches and an opportunity to collect your pre-ordered book.  Plus a rare chance to have your photograph taken with the Montagu Cup – we are hoping to book a photographer.

The occasion is hoped to be like the “Meet at the Mont” event held in April - another good opportunity to re-connect with old teammates.

Those who can’t make the launch night can collect their pre-ordered copy from Pettits on or after Friday 16th December.

Those who paid an extra £3 to have it posted to them, please expect the book to be posted around the 15th December.  Please contact montagucup@gmail.com if you no longer require postage and would prefer to collect (you will be refunded £3).

So far, we have 200+ pre-orders.  We are expecting to print 400 copies.  If you know of anyone else who is interested in pre-ordering, this is still possible for £10, however they have missed the deadline to have their name included.  The cover price will be £15 - once the book is printed.

The 2023 finalists are already decided.  Mexborough’s Dog Daisy United will face Dearne & District on April 10th (Easter Monday) at 11am at the usual Hampden Road (Mexborough Athletic) ground. Again, this is a good excuse to meet up with old friends.

Lastly, advanced notice that another book on local football history is hoped to be produced in 12 months’ time.  The Totty Cup primary school football competition marks its centenary in 2023 – we have all the post-war winning team photos.  If you want to register an interest in the Totty Cup book (or can add some information) please contact via email at contact@tottycup.co.uk or text/phone 07985902346

We are also keen to hear from players who have played in the Totty Cup who may be interested in attending the March 2023 centenary final.

Regards,

Chris Brook
