A crowd of 1500 saw High Terrace and Maltby M.W. contest the 1966 final.

After 36 minutes TOMMY LAW gave High Terrace the lead but NEIL RAMSEY equalised for Maltby in the 44th minute. RAMSEY struck again one minute into the second half before BILLY COTTON soon had High Terrace level at 2-2. This remained the score until the 90 minutes were up when it was decided not to play extra-time as it was considered that it would be unfair to both teams in view of the bad weather conditions.

The replay took place on Sunday 24th April with JONES giving High Terrace a 15th minute lead. GREEN made it 1-1 before DAVIES in the 38th minute and JONES again in the 40th minute gave High Terrace a 3-1 interval lead. DAVIES netted in the 68th and 82nd minutes to complete his hat-trick and seal an emphatic 5-1 win for High Terrace.

Terrace captain and right back, Terry Collinson, lifted the Montagu Cup with the South Yorkshire Times commenting “it was a case of the bludgeon against the rapier and on the day the bludgeon won.”
The High Terrace team was:- Hathaway, Collinson, License, Law, Keith Whitehouse, Ken Whitehouse, Cotton, Walker, Jones, Hankin, Davies.
