The reports below were written by BRIAN HILL. He documented every match that he played for the Old Boys of Mexborough Technical College between 1955 and 1961. This included a Montagu Cup win in 1957 and finalists in 1956.

We also won the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield defeating Beverly Old Grammarians (Hull) 2-1 in the final played on Doncaster Rovers Belle Vue ground under floodlights.
We also reached the semi-final of the Rotherham Charity Cup, losing 0-3 to Parkgate Welfare in a replay after a 3-3 draw.
In the Mexborough Association League we finished runners up to Hickleton Main.
We started the season with a run of 15 games undefeated. The first match lost at home was on 15th December to Bowbroom in the league. We never lost an away game until 16th March to Hickleton Main in the league.
Leading goalscorer was Ken King centre-forward with 35 goals in 34 games. Ken Lee inside left scored 33 goals in 31 games. Our two wingers Brian Dutton and Derek Ward scored 27 and 26 goals respectively.
There were 13 hat-tricks: Ken King 4, Ken Lee 4, Brian Dutton 2, Derek Ward 2 and Trevor King 1.
Both Lee and Dutton had runs of scoring in 7 successive games. Dutton also had another later run of scoring in 6 successive games. Ward and Ken King also had runs of scoring in 5 and 4 games respectively.
We played a total of 36 league and cup games, winning 27 and losing 6. Goals for 151 and 51 against.

These were displayed at Mexborough Schofield Technical School together with 2 trophies won by the schoolboys. The Shield on the right of the Montagu Cup is a Dearne Valley Football Association Shield.
