SYT 22nd January 1987 - unhappy about Mexborough being asked to replay their match v Swinton Town.
Arthur James Allen is believed to be the full name of the Ecclesfield captain - the first person to lift the Montagu Cup.
Research showed that Arthur was born in April 1868 and died in May 1934. The obituries tell of a fine sportman in both football and cricket.
A search for a descendant revealed the following information. Arthur married Mary (Ann) Clarke (11/12/1886-1945) and together they had Eva Allen (26/2/1912- Aug 1997).
Eva married James H Cadman (19/2/1909-6/11/66) on 17th April 1937. Together they had Anthony J Cadman in the summer of 1938.
It is thought that Anthony married Dilys Harris in March 1962 and may have had a son Daniel John Cadman born in 1984.
