Rex Trickett, along with his twin brothers George and Harold, were all on Manchester City's books.

Rex played a few reserve matches for them before his national service in Africa and the Middle East.

On his return, Rex played local football for Swinton Bowbroom WMC in which he enjoyed a lot of success. Notably, in 1958, when Bowbroom won the Montagu Cup.

Rex scored two in an Army Cadet final at Bramall Lane. He was an inside-right.
