The Eades Brothers
Jack and Bob* Eades played in eight Montagu Finals between them. Jack (also known as John) played for Sheffield United twice in 1906, at a time when the Blades were 3rd in the top flight.
Jack scored two goals in the Montagu Cup final of 1911 for Hickleton Main in a 3-1 victory in a replay against Ryecroft Weslyans (2000 turned out for both the original match and the replay). Jack was captain for the 1911 final.
In the 1912 final we aren't sure who got the two goals for Hickleton but we do know that Jack is front and centre of the team photo. The young lad by his side could well be his son, William Montague Eades (born 7/6/1909) - known as 'Monty'. Hickleton's 1913 final was a 3-0 reverse against Doncaster Rovers.
In 2026, Paul Eades from Brighton got in touch about his great-grandfather, Jack. It turns out that Paul only recently heard about Jack's life, as his grandfather (Monty) had not said much. Paul had pulled together a 'graphic short story' called Finding Jack - a 100-year family mystery solved. This is set to be on display at the National Coal Mining Museum (Caphouse) in 2027.

1911 presentation
Notes:
*Jack had a younger brother called Alfred Benjamin Eades (census 1901, 1911). Hickleton had an AB Eades registered for most seasons mentioned above (as well as a J Eades). All the photos found list Jack and Bob Eades - no Alfred. It's most likely, though far from certain, that Alfred Benjamin was known as Bob.
Nothing on the British Newspaper Archive from 1905, but a J Eades is listed in the squad for 1904-1905 at the following resource: https://sites.google.com/view/cfchistory/fa-registrations?authuser=0
The following season a J Eades is registered fro Goldthorpe Institute in September 1905 and then listed as transferred to Sheffield United in April 1906.
1911 - The newspaper lists a J Eades and an R Eades. Jack gets a mention elsewhere in the report. An AB Eades was registered for Hickleton at the time according to the CFC history site.
1912 - Again, Jack is clearly correct. The team photo has a Bob Eades mentioned. AB Eades is registered for Hickleton at the time according to the CFC history site
We do know that one of Jack's brothers was called Alfred, but it seems more likely that the Mont finalist was Bob (not certain that they are brothers).
