Westville secured their first silverware of the season following a 3-0 victory over The Sly Fox in the final of the George Jowett Memorial Trophy.

Goals from Atley Jackson, Harrison Shaw and Shay Evans-Booth gave Westville a deserved victory in front of a healthy crowd at Parkgate FC.

Jackson almost scored early on when he chased a goal kick to run clear, only to see his effort thwarted by a firm save. Moments later, Jackson did find the net when a square ball by Jake Phillis left him with an easy tap in.

Sly Fox almost found an equaliser, but a bullet header was smartly kept out at the far post. Westville enjoyed large spells in the Fox half and some wasteful finishing prevented them from adding to their tally.

Shaw provided a moment of magic to secure the victory. Some fast footwork bamboozled two markers, as the defender advanced forwards, before placing a low shot into the bottom corner.

Westville introduced fresh legs from the bench to see out the game. Fox’s Cody Mee dispossessed a substitute late on, only to blaze his effort over the bar. Mee’s frustration summed up the Fox’s evening.

Evans-Booth put the gloss on the scoreline with the last kick of the game. The substitute collected a pass in the box and drilled the ball into the net from close range.

Westville remain active in a range of cup competitions, plus are well placed in the Premier Division and will look to add more trophies to their cabinet before the season concludes.
