Two late goals for Wickersley CC were the difference in the Montagu Cup semi-final against AFP Press Box at Denaby Main on Tuesday.
Defenders were on top throughout, with the best of the half-chances falling to AFP’s Damian Wieczorek and Jack Binney in the first half.
Wickersley had opportunities through Ben Thornton and Louis Seddons, but there was very little between the two teams.
On 78 minutes, the holders took the lead when Fraser Hartley stretched to get a toe on the end of a Jacob Pearson through ball, getting there ahead of the advancing keeper Dan Morton.
Three minutes later, Pearson was involved again, with the ball eventually falling to James Hardeman, whose volley arced into the top corner to give Morton no chance.
